Legend 1: In ancient times, the bottom of Qinghai Lake today is still a vast grassland and natural pasture. In the distance, the mountains are rolling, the grass is lush everywhere, the cattle and sheep are baaing, and the sound of the countryside. There is also a strange well here, full of sweet water, which flows into a clear stream. Whether in the early years or in the rainy season, well water will not dry up or overflow. Herdsmen live here, relying on fertile grasslands and sacred wells to raise livestock, and live a stable life without food and clothing. Later, a great wise man named Baima Jiangnai was born here. He lives by the well of God. While studying hard and practicing, I gave the water from Shenjing to my trip. When travelers drink this kind of water, they immediately quench their thirst and produce fluid, and their spirits are doubled. Soon, Baimajiang decided to go to Jiajia (India) for further study. Before leaving, he told his disciples, "After I leave, you should continue to deliver water to passers-by, but when you stop, you must cover the manhole cover." It's just that he forgot to tell his apprentice the benefits of not covering the manhole cover. After Baima Jiangxi went to seek the Dharma, the disciple continued to deliver water every day according to his instructions. One evening, the apprentice stopped drinking water and forgot to cover the manhole cover. I slept until midnight and was awakened by the sound of water. In the dark, before he could catch the manhole cover, the water washed him away and the water continued to gush out. Yes, they washed away Tian She's houses and cattle and sheep. Washed away the people who have lived here for generations. This has become the sea of Wang Yang. Baima Jiang Nai just arrived at the southwest border and suddenly felt jumpy. He had a hunch that the water in the well must have overflowed.
So without thinking, I grabbed a mountain at my feet and muttered something to myself. The mountain flew to the sea and landed at the wellhead end to end, suppressing the gushing water. At that time, in a cave in the west of Qinghai Lake, there lived a thousand-year-old bear named Zhemo. When he saw that the sea flooded villages and people and animals, he was gloating, dreaming that the flood would soak the sky and the world would be in chaos, so that he could seize the opportunity to dominate. Unexpectedly, the wellhead was blocked by a mountain falling from the sky. He thought, this must be done by Ma Jiangnai. Others don't have so much power. Jealousy led him out of the cave, got into the water, concentrated all his strength, opened the mountain and pushed him into the water. The water is surging, the turbid waves are rushing and overflowing. This mountain pushed into the water is now Haixin Mountain. On the way, Baimajiang felt that the sea was still flooding and wondered, but the important thing was to save the place. He robbed two more hills, sacrificed with magic, and flew to hold down the wellhead. But it was soon realized by Xiong Jing. Baimajiang had no choice but to give up his desire for further study and rush back to the lake to expel Xiong Jing and stop the gushing of well water. The two hills that were torn off for the second time are now Haixin Xishan and Bird Island. If you don't believe me, if you have a chance to travel, you can see that there are three big gaps in the middle of a mountain range at the junction of southwest China and Tibet. The soil and color there are no different from Haixin Mountain.
Legend 2: A long time ago, there was only a clear spring on Senecio scandens, covered with slate, and the spring never overflowed. Grazing people living around must cover the slate after drinking water, otherwise it will be a disaster. One year, Lomb Gail, the prime minister of the Tubo dynasty, and his son fled here. When his son drank the water and forgot to cover the slate, the spring came out and grew bigger and bigger. Senecio scandens turned into the sea of Wang Yang, and thousands of herders were submerged by the sea. This shocked the gods, who moved the peak of the Chide Mountain in India to suppress the sea eye, thus forming Qinghai Lake and Haixin Mountain.
Legend 3: According to legend, Guanyin Bodhisattva of Putuo Mountain taught a macaque from the South China Sea and ordered it to practice in the snowy plateau of Tibet. This macaque came to the cave in Yalong River Valley to practice compassion and bodhicitta. A female demon tried her best to seduce it and said, "Let's combine!" " The macaque replied, "I am a disciple of Guanyin Bodhisattva, and I was ordered to practice here. If I marry you, I will break my commandments. " The female demon said, "if you don't combine with me, I'll have to commit suicide." Because I was destined to be a demon in my last life, you and I can't be a loving couple. In the future, I will be a devil's wife and give birth to countless demons and grandchildren. At that time, the snowy plateau will become the devil's world, and thousands of creatures will be destroyed. So, I hope you will agree to my request. "Marrying a banshee will break the rules, and not combining with a banshee will cause great sin. The contradictory macaque returned to Putuo Mountain and asked Guanyin Bodhisattva for instructions. Avalokitesvara said, "This is an auspicious sign.
It is a great good thing that you can combine with her and reproduce in the snowy plateau. As a bodhisattva, you should be brave enough to see the good and quickly marry the banshee. "After the macaque and the witch became partners, they gave birth to six little monkeys. They have different temperaments and hobbies, and each of them is looking for food in the fruit forest. Three years later, when macaques went to visit their children, they found that the children had multiplied to 500, and the fruits in the forest were about to dry up and their lives were miserable. The old macaque once again returned to Putuo Mountain to ask Guanyin Bodhisattva for help. He took out natural grain seeds from Xumi Mountain and scattered them on the earth, which was full of all kinds of grains. Because monkeys get enough food, their tails get shorter, they can talk, and they gradually become people. This is the ancestor of the snowy plateau.
