Is there a future for mechanical design?
The "28 Rule" applies to every industry, every post and every post has a good development track. Mechanical design has no future, but simple design drawings have no future.

Ten years is like a day, and an experience takes ten years. This is a true portrayal of most mechanical designers, and it is also the reason why traditional mechanical design or practitioners with only drawing ability have no good future.

"The older you get, the more popular you get" is the biggest misunderstanding in the machinery industry.

The machinery industry is known as the "universal oil industry", and machinery practitioners have more or less heard from their predecessors that the older this industry is, the more popular it is.

The high demand, high employment rate and low working threshold in the traditional machinery industry have always been the most ideal working state pursued by people in the 1970s. The times are changing, and the public's cognition is also changing. At present, the most common situation of practitioners in the traditional machinery industry is that they can't make money, go hungry and go out of business, which is also the main reason for the high turnover rate in the machinery industry.

The future of pure mechanical design is worrying.

A few days ago, Zhang Gong, a mechanical designer of an ordinary state-owned enterprise, commissioned a resume and added WeChat to briefly talk about the current situation of the industry and his own development plan.

Zhang Gong, bachelor degree, graduated for four years. At present, I am working as a mechanical designer in a large manufacturing state-owned enterprise in China, with a monthly salary of 4K after tax (the payment of five insurances and one gold is not as high as the outside world thinks), and I am worried about the future development. At that time, at that time, he talked about the development status of the mechanical industry from many aspects, and the reason why most mechanical engineers were limited in mediocre development: industry confusion.

The country is confused, the enterprise is confused, and the university is confused. Can mechanical practitioners not be confused? The low threshold of machinery industry is the biggest misunderstanding of machinery industry. Mechanical position is the position that needs industry accumulation most, and the most direct way is education. Without good institutions or academic qualifications, it is really difficult for mechanical practitioners to develop well.

At present, mechanical education in undergraduate colleges can only let graduates know what machinery is, including those levels, such as automation, hydraulics, structure and so on. But everything is limited to the surface. Even many colleges and universities still choose drawing software, such as Pro-E, Solidswork, Ansys and so on. They all entered the enterprise to study, but they really learned very little in four years and could not support the needs of later work. For enterprises, enterprises want employees to know everything, but they don't know what they really need. Few enterprises have complete training, and most mechanical designers are engaged in simple drawing and drawing.

At present, the machinery industry is gradually subdividing jobs, especially large companies. For example, a department can be divided into three groups: structure+hydraulic+electric power, with clear division of labor and non-interference, which further restricts the development of machinery practitioners. If the development is limited or there is no way to plan, machinery practitioners cannot be confused.

How can mechanical practitioners develop well?

1, education promotion, if you want to develop in the machinery industry, education is very important; The undergraduate only knows something about machinery in business; Master's degree is the entrance, and you can focus on a certain field; The doctor is knowledgeable and can control the mechanical industry from a global perspective.

2. Choose a good direction (provided that you have a good education); Through the undergraduate course to understand the industry, the master stage focuses on a certain field, such as artificial intelligence, big data, algorithms, industrial Internet of Things and other fields with good development prospects. Never think that machinery is just design.

3. Job hopping does not change careers; From the same machinery industry, the usual model is to focus on sales and light technology. For mechanical practitioners, sales work is a good choice. Middle and senior positions, sales background is much higher than technical background.

4. change careers; It's time to change careers. If you really don't like the machinery industry, you should be prepared to change jobs, choose your favorite direction, be good at your own field, and plan to change careers.
