Fu Zhifang lost his father in his early years and lived with his widowed mother. Fu's mother has a strong will. By selling handmade toothpicks, she cultivated her daughter into the "Tianqiao Mei Lanfang" in Beijing.

Fu Zhifang and Mei Lanfang first met at the church meeting in 1920. At that time, Mei Lanfang first performed "Thinking of Fan", then Wu Jiapo, and the Chinese opera was Zhan Puguan, in which Fu Zhifang participated.

Mei Lanfang had a good impression on this girl 15 years old, so she left her heart. Later, she learned that she was learning Tsing Yi from her early teacher Wu Lingxian, and she was more interested.

Wang Minghua died of chronic lung disease in Tianjin. When Fu Zhifang learned about it, he sent his son to Tianjin to meet his coffin and buried her in Wanhua Mountain at the northern foot of Biyun Temple in Xiangshan, Beijing.

Fu Zhifang and Mei Lanfang had nine children in fourteen years, most of whom died young. Only four sons Chen Bao, five sons Bao Zheng (Shao Wu), seven sons Bao Yue and eight sons Bao Jiucheng.
