Chapter IV Promotion of Judge Rank of Interim Provisions on Judge Rank in People's Republic of China (PRC)
Article 12 Judges below the second-level judge shall be promoted step by step within the range of post establishment grades in accordance with the following provisions: judges from the fifth level to the third level shall be promoted for three years at a time; Judges from Grade III to Grade I are promoted for four years at a time. Promotion expires and can only be promoted after passing the examination; Unqualified promotion should be postponed; Those who have both ability and political integrity, outstanding professional level and judicial performance can be promoted in advance. Promotion assessment is based on the annual assessment results.
Article 13 Judges at or above the first level shall be promoted through election. Selection and promotion measures shall be formulated separately.
Judges include five levels. The administrative rank of judges is usually equivalent to the administrative deputy of the government at the same level, that is, the president of the district court is equivalent to the deputy head of the district, the president of the municipal court is equivalent to the deputy mayor, the president of the provincial court is equivalent to the deputy governor, and the president of the Supreme Court is equivalent to the deputy prime minister. The administrative level of internal judges in courts at all levels shall be determined according to the establishment of the courts.
