Lin Shu, a native of Fujian County (now Fuzhou, Fujian Province), studied with his teacher at the age of six or seven. The teacher is very poor and has no food for cooking. After Lin Shu knew it, he hurried home, wrapped the rice in socks, packed it up and handed it to the teacher on his back. The teacher was furious and said he stole it, but refused to accept it. Uncle Lin told his mother when he came back, and her mother smiled and said, "Although your intention is good, is it polite for students to give gifts to their teachers like this?" It was ready immediately. Lin Shu went to the private school with a stone of rice, and the teacher accepted it.
