1949- 1952 studied at the Agricultural College of Lingnan University in Guangzhou.

1952- 1953 studied at south China agricultural college in Guangzhou.

1953- 1962 used to be a teaching assistant and lecturer of South China Agricultural College.

1962- 1965 in China academy of agricultural sciences, Beijing, served as the secretary and research assistant of dean ding ying.

1965- 1983 Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor of South China Agricultural College.

1983- 1995 President of South China Agricultural University.

1993 Up to now, academician of China Academy of Sciences, deputy director of biology department, member of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, and vice chairman of Guangdong Science and Technology Association.
