The opening and closing scenes of the 1955 film "Enemy at the Gates" starring clark gable were shot on the cable car at the top of the mountain. You can explore more fascinating history of the Peak Tramway in the Peak Tramway History Exhibition Hall located at the lower terminal of the Peak Tramway. This is why the top of the mountain is one of the most popular scenic spots in Hong Kong. During the day, your sight crosses the glittering skyscrapers and Victoria Harbour, and extends to the green hills in the New Territories. In the evening, this panorama melts into pink and orange, and then becomes a dazzling galaxy of light, flashing below you. If you listen carefully enough, you can hear the world cities in Asia buzzing below.
In addition to restaurants and retail stores, this anvil-shaped peak tower also has a large observation deck called "Sky Platform 428". There is a free viewing platform in the nearby Peak Square, as well as shopping and dining options. Go to Lugard Road Observatory and Lion Corner Pavilion for more fascinating scenery. If you want to enjoy the beautiful scenery leisurely, you can take the 3.5-kilometer-long circular trail at the top of the mountain.
Riding on the peak cable car itself is a visual experience. When you take the city's historic cable car to the top of the mountain, the skyscrapers on Hong Kong Island slide past your window at a seemingly impossible angle.
