Pi Rixiu (about 834-883) was born in Jingling (now Tianmen City, Hubei Province) and later renamed himself Lu, Buyi, Zuiyin and Zuishi. Most people regard him as an outstanding essayist and poet in the late Tang Dynasty, but ignore his contribution to Confucian education, especially Confucian classics education. In order to understand the changes and conditions of Confucian educational thought in the late Tang Dynasty, Pi Rixiu is a person who must be involved.

Pi Rixiu was born in a civilian family, and his ancestors made a living by farming. Pi Rixiu lived a poor life since childhood and was closer to the lower class. When I was young, I studied in my hometown, and later I traveled all over the country, Hunan, Anhui, Henan and other places. Tang Xizong Xian Tong (866) failed in the senior high school entrance examination in Chang 'an, lived in a friend's villa in Shouzhou, and compiled his poems over the years into 10 volumes and 200 articles. In the second year (867, eight years in Xian Tong), he was a scholar, and successively served as a military judge, writer, doctor Guo Zi, doctor Tai Chang, academician, and later as an assistant to Piling. During this period, he made friends with his good friend Lu Guimeng and sang many songs. After that, ten volumes of Songling Collection were handed down from generation to generation. Wang Xianzhi and Huang Chao took refuge in Jiangnan during the uprising, and in the last years of Ganfu (about 878), Huang Chao army invaded Jiangsu and Zhejiang, Pi Rixiu joined the peasant uprising army, and then Huang Chao invaded Chang 'an, where he served as a bachelor of Hanlin for more than three years, but unfortunately he died soon.
