Dayu Cave is located in Great Wall County in the north of Ping 'an Province. It is more than 20 kilometers away from Liangshui Cave, the first battle of the Volunteers (1 battalion).1October 25th wiped out the enemy for the first time. Cannons can be heard. The residential area is located in a ravine in the northeast and southwest. There are two highways in the southwest ravine. This place is a metal mining area, which has been discontinued since the war. The former miner's house is empty. The bungalows that used to be mine office workers are also empty. Both the administrative department and the administrative organs are stationed in the office. On the upper right of this row of bungalows and the upper left of the mine, there is a big house with an independent iron roof and wooden walls, which used to be the mine tool room. Zhisi divides this big house into three rooms, and the one in the east is Peng's office. There is a long table with a telephone in the middle, and a long bench in the north of the table is used by Peng, who sometimes holds meetings here. It is divided into two small rooms by the west end. One is Peng's bedroom with a camp bed on the south wall, and the other is the guard communication duty room on the north wall, where people are on duty day and night.
165438+1Before 7 o'clock on October 25th, all the local authorities in Dayudong entered the air-raid shelter except the personnel on duty. Hong Xuezhi dragged Peng into the newly opened air-raid shelter 50 meters southwest of the office. But two or three hours later, when the enemy plane came, Mao and Gao Ruixin returned to the office from the bomb shelter. Before they had breakfast, they heated eggs and fried rice around the stove, and talked with Cheng Pu and Xu Muyuan, the guards on duty, about the attack of our army that night. At 1 1, four enemy planes flew over Dayu Cave. After the air defense alarm was issued, Cheng Pu and other four people left the office for the air-raid shelter, but the enemy plane flew north, thinking that the Yalu River Bridge had been bombed, and four people returned to the office. But it was soon discovered that there were four enemy planes in the air and the alarm sounded. Yuan took the lead in coming out. Cheng Pu also ran out of the room and looked up into the air. He saw many white spots, that is, napalm in the sun. Cheng Pu can't even shout. Just as he was about to go back to his room to call Mao and Gao Ruixin out, nearly 100 petrol bombs landed one after another, Peng's living room and office were hit, and the high temperature smoke of 1093 degrees Celsius was swallowed up instantly. Mao and Gao Ruixin failed to escape and died. Afterwards, Cheng Pu said that Mao was warming himself by the east wall near the stove, and Gao Ruixin was staring at the map of the enemy and me on the wall by the south wall, but both of them were unable to rush out because they were a little far from the door. On the day of the air raid, Gao Rui was glad that he was not on duty. He ran back to the office because he had just arrived in Zhisi and was eager to know the familiar situation. He memorized the names, positions and actions of both sides. Mao has no obligation either. Why did he run back to the office? Hong Xuezhi wrote in the book Memories of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea: "We had breakfast early that day. After dinner, Mao and he went up the mountain to evacuate. Later, I don't know why he ran back to the house. " (People's Liberation Army Press, July 2nd edition, 199 1)
After the alarm was lifted, Peng learned that Mao and Gao Ruixin had been killed. He was so sad and guilty that he didn't eat at noon, his brow furrowed, he was idle and his thoughts were confused. In the afternoon, he grabbed a pen and prepared to report it to the CMC, leaving a message 1 14. He stopped writing and wrote for more than an hour, reporting the unfortunate sacrifices of Mao and Gao Ruixin. The full text of the telegram is:
Member of the Military Commission and Gao (post) and He (gold):
At 7 o'clock today, we have entered the bomb shelter, and Mao He and three staff officers are in the room. 1 1, the four of them returned to the house, and suddenly four enemy planes came, dropping nearly 100 incendiary bombs, hitting the house, and two staff officers ran out. Mao and Gao Ruixin did not escape in time and were burned to death. Others have no loss.

Ye Zilong, director of the General Office of the Central Committee of the CPC confidential room, received a telegram to Si, and Zhou Enlai personally read it. After reading it, Zhou said, "Let me think about it. I will put it aside first and then report to the chairman. " And approved in the telegram: "Liu (Shaoqi) and Zhu (Germany): I didn't show it to the chairman because he was in poor health these two days." 38 days later, 195 1 1 2, Zhou Enlai asked Ye Zilong to read the telegram in Mao Zedong and attached a letter. The full text is:
Madam President, Comrade Jiang Qing:
Comrade Mao's sacrifice was glorious. I didn't send this telegram to Comrade Liu Shaoqi at that time, because you all caught a cold. Before and after this incident, I contacted the party Committee and Peng of the telecommunications department and asked them to pay attention to the safety of the command organ. People who came back in front often mentioned this matter. Gao Ruixin is also a good confidential staff. After the victory, more tombstones will be erected in Dayu Cave and other battlefields to commemorate the martyrs of Chinese people's Volunteer Army.
Zhou Enlai Earle
After writing a telegram to the Central Military Commission, Peng called the Northwest Military Region in the name of Zhisi to inform Gao Ruixin of his sacrifice, and said that "Comrade Gao Ruixin contributed in the war to liberate the northwest" and hoped that the Military Region would express condolences to his relatives. Zhang Zongxun, deputy commander, consulted with Gan Siqi, deputy political commissar, and Yan Maoyao, chief of staff. As Gao's wife's due date is near, he decided to keep it a secret for the time being and inform her at an appropriate time. Gao Ruixin's daughter Yan Kun was born/0/7 days after his death. A few months later, Li Cuiying learned the bad news of her husband's death and immediately fainted to the ground.
Zhang Zongsan, deputy director of Zhisi Management Office, directed the guards to clean up the burnt-out office, cleaned up the remains of Mao and Gao Ruixin from the ashes, and judged Mao's remains according to the remains of watches (only Mao had watches in the office at that time), and asked the engineers to make two coffins and bury the remains on the slope. Bricks engraved with the words Mao and Gao are buried in front of the tomb as markers.
Attachment: Premier Peng Zhizhou's telegram (asking about the disposal of Mao's remains)
Premier Wen: Yesterday 24th, Comrade Lai Chuanzhu sent a telegram to transport the body of Comrade Mao back to Beijing. I'm going to bury them in North Korea and erect a monument in the name of Zhisi or the commander of the volunteer army to explain the course of his voluntary participation and sacrifice. He is worthy of being the son of Mao Zedong, and he was buried with another staff member Gao Ruixin who died at the same time. This is of great significance to education, and the families of other martyrs have no objection. The original telegram has been sent to you, and the above opinions have not been written. Special supplementary notice, please consider whether it is appropriate.
