Wei Zhi (580─643) was a famous politician, historian and writer in the Tang Dynasty. The word Xuancheng was born in Quzhou Qucheng (so the address is in the northeast of Ye County, Shandong Province) and Guantao (Guantao County, Hebei Province). Without loneliness and poverty, I became a monk. At the end of Sui Dynasty, he joined the Wagang Army led by Shi Mi. The secret soldiers were defeated and went to the Tang Dynasty. Since then, they invited the minister of Shandong Province, Cheng Tong, and were captured by Dou Jiande, who gave up their lives. Jiande was defeated, and he became the prince of the Tang Dynasty to wash horses. After the "Xuanwumen Change", Emperor Taizong valued his talent and promoted him as an admonition officer. He was appointed as an official, Shang Shu You Cheng, secretary supervisor, waiter, doctor Zuo Guanglu, and a prince, and so on.

During his tenure, he dared to speak out, advised Taizong to be prepared for danger in times of peace, listened to opinions widely, despised Fu, practiced frugality, and made great contributions to the realization of the rule of Zhenguan, becoming a generation of famous ministers. He is responsible for sorting out the maps of the Chamber of Secrets, editing the books, and writing Preface to the Sui Dynasty and Introduction to the Books of Liang Shu, Chen Shu and Beiqi.
