Zhang Benmei and her father Zhang Yu used to be players of the Sichuan table tennis team, and her mother Zhang Ling used to be the main force of table tennis and made teammates with Deng Yaping.

Zhang Yu was originally a table tennis player in China. Zhang Yu and his wife Zhang Ling are former professional players of Sichuan Table Tennis Team. Zhang Yu's best result is the bronze medal in men's doubles in the National Games (cooperation with Olympic champion Chen Longcan1997); Zhang Ling was selected for the national team and participated in the 1995 Tianjin World Table Tennis Championships together with Deng Yaping and Qiao Hong.
