Brief introduction of bayberry in Shangyu
Myrica rubra is native to China and widely distributed in the south of the Yangtze River. Myrica rubra is produced in various counties of our city and has a long history of cultivation. Among them, Yangmei in Yangjiaxi-Chenjia area of Hengtang Town, Shangyu County is large in fruit, bright in color, high in quality, delicious and unique. In ancient times, this area was divided into two capitals, so it was called Durbayberry. According to the continuation of Shangyu County Chronology School in the 25th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty, Jiatai Chronology and Wanli Chronology are not as good as Yu Yishan, Huihe and Maodi, but now the producers in our city are more prosperous than other cities, and their production is different, especially Yangjiaxi in the north of the county. It can be seen that as early as the Southern Song Dynasty, Dur Yangmei was very famous. In the Qing Dynasty, I made a kind tribute. 1932, Zhejiang Agricultural Improvement Farm conducted a detailed investigation on Myrica rubra in East Zhejiang, and concluded that Myrica rubra Dur is the best of Myrica rubra because of its large fruit, small stone, high edible rate, rich moisture and moderate sweetness and sourness. In the same year, in the No.1 12 issue of Construction Monthly published in Zhejiang, Wang wrote that Vu Thang Township (now Hengtang Township) of Yangmei in Shangyu was the best, followed by Aokou and Huangbaiwu. At that time, the output of Myrica rubra in Vu Thang Township reached 650,000 Jin, which was exported to Shanghai, Hangzhou and other places.
