Tianma Automobile Group Co., Ltd. was formerly known as China People's Liberation Army Air Force Automobile Refitting Factory 8749 1. It was established in the early 1980s and was later designated as the No.9506 factory of China People's Liberation Army. After the directly affiliated military enterprise was decentralized to the local government, it was renamed Baoding Tianma Automobile Factory. In 2002, the enterprise was restructured into a joint-stock system and reorganized according to the Company Law. On July 18, 2005, with the approval of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, the original Tianma Automobile Co., Ltd. was changed to "Tianma Automobile Group Co., Ltd." and "Tianma Automobile Group" was established at the same time. 1October 27th 10, approved by the National Development and Reform Commission.

At the same time, in 2002 and 2003, KZ6490 series multifunctional commercial vehicles and Sea Lion light buses with domestic leading level were developed and put on the market.
