Central enterprises generally refer to the wholly state-owned or state-controlled enterprises directly managed by the Central People's Government (the State Council) or entrusted by the state-owned assets supervision and administration institution to exercise the responsibilities of investors, and their leading bodies are entrusted by the Central Organization Department, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission or other central ministries (associations).

Classification:
According to industrial attributes and control subjects, central enterprises can be roughly divided into four categories:
