He started literary writing very early. When his first novel was published, he was only 13 years old. The early poem "Village" was published in Wen Chao Monthly, Volume 2, Issue 1, and in March 1944, which can be regarded as the beginning of his entry into the literary world. However, his literary achievements are mainly in the creation and research of prose poems since 1980. So far, he has written more than 1000 prose poems and more than 500 essays in the past 25 years. He has published eight collections of essays, such as Awakening Fish, Selected Prose Poems by Geng, Lilac in May, Flying to the Height of the Island, Lyric on Straw Shoes, Faraway and Faraway, and two collections of essays, such as Geng's Prose Collection and Qingdao on Earth. Among them, the Collection of Poems of Geng Prose won the first Taishan Literature and Art Award (second prize) and the first Qingdao Literature and Art Award (first prize) in Shandong Province. Lyric on Straw Shoes won the "Excellent Project Award" of the 7th Spiritual Civilization Construction in Shandong Province and the Qingdao Literature and Art Award (the first prize).

At the same time, he edited or co-edited books such as Grand View of Prose Poetry Appreciation at Home and Abroad, Selected Contemporary Excellent Prose Poetry in China and 20 Prose Poets, served as the editorial board and invited editor of China Poetry Yearbook of China New Poetry Research Association, and presided over the columns of writers and works of Prose Poetry Monthly and appreciation of outstanding works of Prose Poetry World.

In the creation of prose poems, he pursues diversity and uniqueness, learns from others' strong points, integrates and constantly explores and innovates, thus opening up the expressive field and aesthetic space of prose poems, getting rid of the bad poetic style of prose poems, devoting himself to the combination of rich content, lyrical and narrative means, the intervention of ironic factors, and paying special attention to the harmonious unity of the writer's sense of mission and the sincerity of thoughts and feelings, so he has both the spirit of the times and modern consciousness.
