From1May 1988 to1February 1989 and1March 1992 to September, he was in McGlinchey, Stafford, Mintz, cellini &; Lang Law Firm is engaged in legal research. In June 1988 and June 1989, respectively, he was awarded the international honorary citizen certificate by the mayor of New Orleans and the lifelong honorary membership certificate by the president of the Round Table Club of New Orleans. He is currently a professor, doctoral supervisor and deputy director of the Institute of International Law of Wuhan University, vice president of Changjiang Maritime Law Association, arbitrator of China Maritime Arbitration Commission, arbitrator of Beijing Arbitration Commission, and executive director of China Society of International Economic Law.
Professor Zhang Xianglan has been engaged in the teaching and research of maritime affairs, law of the sea and international trade law for a long time, and has made creative achievements in marine insurance law, ship oil pollution law, ship financing law and law of the sea. He has presided over many major research projects, such as "Research on the Legal Protection of China's Maritime Rights and Interests under the Background of Globalization", "Research on the Legal Issues of International Ship Financing Leasing", "2 1 New Horizon of International Maritime Law in the Century", "Theory and Practice of Liability for Ship Oil Pollution Damage and Construction of the Legal System of Ship Pollution in China". He also presided over the national excellent course Maritime Law, the national bilingual teaching model course Maritime Law and the research on teaching reform in Hubei Province. The published Theory of Maritime Law (co-author) and Maritime Law (national excellent course) won the third prize of the Ministry of Justice's law textbook and outstanding scientific research achievements, the Maritime Insurance Law (independent work) won the second prize of the fourth excellent work in Wuhan, and the Theory and Practice of International Trade Law (editor-in-chief) won the third prize of outstanding achievements in Wuhan social sciences, the second prize of the eighth outstanding achievements of Wuhan University and the American Review.
