The School of Geography and Marine Science of Nanjing University has three national key disciplines in Jiangsu Province: physical geography, cartography and geographic information system, land use and planning (human geography) and marine geology.

Two. Brief introduction of Nanjing University

Nanjing University is an institution of higher learning with a long history and outstanding reputation. Its predecessor was Sanjiang Normal School, which was founded in 1902. Later, it was renamed Nanjing University on 1950 after historical periods such as Liangjiang Normal University, Nanjing Normal University, National Southeast University, National Fourth Sun Yat-sen University, National Central University and National Nanjing University.

1952, in the adjustment of colleges and universities in China, Nanjing University adjusted some departments such as engineering, agronomy and normal education, and later merged with the College of Arts and Sciences of Jinling University founded by 1888, and was still named Nanjing University. The school site was moved from Sipailou to the original site of Drum Tower Jinda.

1, major in philosophy

The Department of Philosophy of Nanjing University, formerly known as the Department of Philosophy of Central University, was founded in 1920. It is one of the earliest philosophy departments in China to be granted the right to confer doctoral degrees.

Since the reform and opening-up, the College has made great achievements in teaching, scientific research and discipline construction, including basic theoretical achievements that are in the leading position or advanced level at home and abroad, and applied achievements that directly serve the economic, social and cultural development.

2. Literature major

The College of Literature of Nanjing University, formerly known as the China Department of Language and Literature of Nanjing University, is one of the departments with the longest history and the strongest academic strength.

Its history can be traced back to Sanjiang Normal School established in 1902 and Huiwen College established by American Christian Church in Nanjing in 1888. Although there was no organizational system at that time, Mr. John Calvin Ferguson, the first president of Huiwen Academy, was born with a bachelor of arts, and Mr. Li Ruiqing, the inspector (principal) of Liangjiang Normal School, who was born with a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty, was an educator who "encouraged Chinese studies, science and art to spare no effort".
