Postgraduate entrance examination or study abroad?
After entering the junior year, many students have to consider one issue, that is, the issue of graduation destination-employment, postgraduate entrance examination and study abroad. However, in the face of increasing employment pressure, more college students will tend to take the postgraduate entrance examination or go abroad for further study, which requires a lot of time and energy. This situation often makes students fall into the dilemma of how to choose between these two ways. Many people think it is difficult to take care of both, that is, you can't have your cake and eat it. Here, Mr. Wang from the International Education Center of the Central University of Finance and Economics, combined with years of teaching management experience, tells the students about the postgraduate entrance examination and study abroad.

1. Advantages and disadvantages of postgraduate entrance examination and study abroad

Postgraduate entrance examination: the postgraduate entrance examination that everyone said is the national postgraduate entrance examination. After passing the initial examination and re-examination, you can enter the relevant universities to study postgraduate courses, and finally get the postgraduate qualifications and degrees recognized by the Ministry of Education of China. Choosing postgraduate entrance examination can delay the arrival of employment period, delay the pressure of employment, give students more time for further study, enhance their competitiveness and spend less money. However, in the face of increasingly fierce employment competition in China, the employment pressure of domestic graduate students is still great. In addition, the domestic postgraduate training takes a long time, generally 2-3 years, which will make students lose their age advantage and miss many employment opportunities.

Studying abroad: The advantage of studying abroad is that students can receive different education systems and training methods abroad, master a foreign language, broaden their horizons, exercise their abilities, have the opportunity to emigrate and get better employment opportunities. However, going abroad for further study is often expensive, especially in developed countries such as Britain and the United States. In addition, most international students are going abroad for the first time and are prone to danger. If students don't adapt to the foreign environment, there will be some negative effects.

2. Prepare for postgraduate entrance examination and study abroad

Postgraduate entrance examination and study abroad receive different systems of education, so the methods of investigation and preparation are naturally different.

Postgraduate entrance examination focuses on the annual national entrance examination, which is divided into initial examination and second examination. The initial content includes mathematics, English, politics, specialized courses, etc. The second interview includes an interview and related professional tests. Students preparing for the postgraduate entrance examination often focus on reviewing and preparing for the exam. The preparation period begins about one year before the exam.

Studying abroad mainly takes the form of application. Students not only need higher TOEFL, IELTS and other professional English tests and scores in their usual courses, but also need other qualities and abilities such as course performance and activity performance during their college years. Students need to pay attention to comprehensive ability and all-round development when preparing to go abroad, and the preparation cycle runs through the whole undergraduate course for four years.

Therefore, whether you are taking the postgraduate entrance examination or studying abroad, you need 100% energy input and efforts to achieve the ideal goal. This also puts higher demands on students' physical strength and energy. So, how should students choose?

You can't have your cake and eat it?

Postgraduate entrance examination and studying abroad are risky, and no one can guarantee the success of postgraduate entrance examination or the smooth application. Students who miss this opportunity will graduate soon, and may encounter disadvantages and troubles that fresh graduates have not brought when they take the exam or apply again. If you choose to take the postgraduate entrance examination, you will miss the deadline for studying abroad if your grades are not on the line. Although you can choose to apply for studying abroad in the next spring, you still have to delay it for at least half a year. However, it will take another year to choose the exam, which is stressful and the result is pending.

Teacher Huang of the International Education Center of the Central University of Finance and Economics suggested that if the postgraduate entrance examination fails and family conditions permit, students can choose to study in the preparatory course for studying abroad to avoid unnecessary loss of time and energy. Master's preparatory program refers to the preparatory program for studying abroad in China for 1 year, and after studying abroad for 1 to 2 years, students can obtain a master's degree from a foreign university.

Teacher Zhao of the International Education Center emphasized that studying for a master's degree does not mean that the courses studied are irregular, nor does it mean that the universities abroad for further study belong to inferior universities. In fact, master's degree is just another form of studying abroad, which can help students adapt to their study and life abroad as soon as possible and meet the admission conditions of domestic universities. Compared with the conventional application for going abroad, it has its own unique advantages, such as low entry threshold, wide entry and strict exit, and is not limited by professional and work experience, saving time, effort and money. For students who are weak in professional and basic language teaching, they can also obtain degrees from famous foreign universities through their own efforts.

Finally, the teacher of the International Education Center of the Central University of Finance and Economics reminded the students that how to choose between postgraduate entrance examination and going abroad should be combined with their own situation, but they should not go into a dead end. Sometimes, choosing multiple ways is also a good way to reduce risks. I believe that no matter what path students take, they can finally realize their life dreams through their own efforts!
