Major achievements
artistic style
On the one hand, Bao Yuankai constantly absorbs nutrients and essence from folk music, and at the same time absorbs composition techniques from western music, turning China folk songs into a work of art. Folk songs are a relatively primary color art, and real professional works of art need high-level artistic treatment. He did it and succeeded.
Artistic proposition
"Composition training, counterpoint is more important than harmony. In particular, the counterpoint of two voices is simply the basis of composition. " Bao Yuankai
Music teaching
Professor Bao Yuankai has been teaching for forty years. Among his disciples are Wang Xian, who won the TV trapeze award twice for the TV series "The Empty Mirror" and "How Steel was Tempered"; Liu Tong, who collaborated with the famous director Zhang Yimou to create a new musical "Impression of Liu Sanjie"; and Liu Changyuan, who won the Golden Bell Award and many symphonies for his unique violin concerto. There are Wu Jiaji, who is famous for his songs such as "Great Northern Wilderness" and "What a Big Tree", the author of the TV series "I love you without discussion", the author of the song "The Land Wandering with Xiangyun", and Professor Sun, the dean of the Art College of Tianjin Normal University, who is unique in the field of ancient music score research in China. In Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, there are also active groups of composers composed of his disciples. After that, Professor Bao trained a group of musicians in Taiwan Province Province, which prepared a vigorous force for the revitalization of Chinese culture on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
In 2005, Professor Bao was awarded the Yongxi Excellent Music Education Award by the Ministry of Culture for his teaching achievements in the Music School of Tianjin University. Since then, he has shifted from undergraduate teaching to postgraduate teaching, and shifted the focus of professional teaching and discipline construction to comprehensive universities. He has made fruitful efforts for the discipline transformation of Xiamen University Art College from normal school to major school, and formulated a refreshing school-running purpose: "Relying on comprehensive universities, focusing on artistic creation, taking learning Chinese and Western as the basis, and aiming at developing potential, cultivating artistic talents with civic awareness and independent personality, inheriting excellent traditions and being full of innovative spirit".
Rich practical experience, profound cultural accomplishment and pragmatic teaching concept form his unique music education thought. Professor Bao Yuankai summed up his years of experience in art education into sixteen words-self-righteous, seeking common ground while reserving differences, not seeking solutions, and getting carried away. First, "self-righteous." It is to encourage students' self-confidence through various effective methods. He often says to himself that "self-confidence makes people progress, and inferiority makes people fall behind" and "good students are not scolded but praised". As for "say you can, you can, you can't; You say no, you can't, you can't. "The ironic remarks made by some officials in society translated into educational laws are precisely the Pimarion effect and Rosenthal effect of" thinking only when you can do it "in psychology. Second, "seek common ground while reserving differences. "In other words, art and art must avoid" sameness "and pursue" difference "in order to excel. Third, "Dont Ask For Help solution." This sentence comes from Tao Yuanming's "good reading, not asking for a solution;" "Every time I know something, I forget to eat with joy." It is said that people's energy is limited and it is impossible to be accurate in everything: "My life is limited, but I know that there is no limit, and it is embarrassing to seek infinity with limit." A cursory glance can broaden your horizons. "Every time I know something, I forget to eat happily." If you find something consistent with your personality, interests and pursuits in browsing, you must investigate the reasons from the outside to the inside. Du Fu said that "reading can break thousands of volumes, and writing is like a god" is true, but everything is difficult to understand. How to "break ten thousand volumes"? Fourth, "get carried away." Get its meaning (artistic conception, verve) and forget its shape (craft, form). The cultivation of form is ultimately for the sake of meaning. "The elephant is invisible when you look at it loudly" is the highest realm of art. Professor Bao often quotes Confucius' words that "the knower is not as good as the good, and the good is not as good as the musician" to criticize some professional music teachers or students who specialize in music but make it technical, theoretical and materialistic. He said: "From the perspective of feelings, these people may not have a richer and deeper understanding of music than non-professional music lovers."
Professor Bao Yuankai has been changing his role between music creation and professional teaching. He said: composing and teaching composition are actually two things with different ways of thinking. The former is to jump out from * * * to find and develop one's own artistic personality, while the latter is to sum up * * * from different artistic styles of the predecessors and tell students the regularity.

Wan Aimin: Mr. Bao Yuankai is one of the most famous and influential composers in contemporary China. His music works are not only loved by the masses at home, but also warmly welcomed abroad.
Left: Bao Yuankai's "Yanhuang amorous feelings-24 orchestral music with the theme of China folk songs" shows a vivid picture of the life of the Han people with the popular melody of China Han folk songs and colorful western orchestral colors. Among them, dynamic and colorful harmony is an important factor for the success of this work.
Xu: Taking Bao Yuankai's piano adaptation of Taihang Chunqiu as the object of discussion, starting with the analysis of its folk music application, musical style characteristics, adaptation techniques and characteristics, this paper focuses on Bao Yuankai's creative thinking on five Shanxi folk songs, such as Walking West and Watching Yangko, and Zhu Peibin's piano adaptation routine. We can not only see the epitome of nationalization in the development of China's orchestral music, but also see the experience of nationalization of piano China.
