1965 graduated from Shandong medical college, and taught ophthalmology in Weifang medical college in the same year. He is the founder of the Department of Ophthalmology, and has served as a teaching assistant, lecturer, associate professor and professor. 1987- 1988 went to the eye center of Louisiana state university to do postdoctoral research on corneal diseases. Shandong Institute of Ophthalmology was established in Qingdao on 199 1, and was elected as an academician of China Academy of Engineering on 200 1. At present, he is honorary president of Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences, director of Shandong Institute of Ophthalmology, director of the School of Ophthalmology of Qingdao University, director of the cultivation base of Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology-State Key Laboratory of Provincial Department, and director of the School of Medicine and Life of Jinan University and Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences. He is also the deputy director of the Chinese Medical Association Ophthalmology Branch and the deputy editor-in-chief of the Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology.

Professor Xie Lixin is mainly engaged in applied basic research and clinical diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic keratopathy and cataract, especially in corneal endothelial cells, infectious keratopathy and intraocular implantation of sustained-release drugs. Won 15 national and provincial scientific and technological progress awards and 4 national invention patents. The first monograph on corneal transplantation and corneal science in China was published, with books 10 as editor-in-chief, chief translator and chief reviewer, and references 18. There are 356 academic papers published in ophthalmology magazines at home and abroad, among which the first author or correspondent published 127 papers in Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology, and 37 papers published abroad were included in SCI. Complete corneal transplantation and cataract surgery 1 10,000 cases. It has successively undertaken 30 scientific research projects at or above the provincial level, such as national "863" and "973" subprojects and key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation. Now he is a doctoral supervisor in Peking University, Zhejiang University, Wuhan University and Qingdao University. He has trained graduate students and advanced students for the whole country and made important contributions to the cause of ophthalmology education in China.
