Since 18 16, the National Institute of Advanced Mining in Paris has been located at the edge of Luxembourg Park in the center of the Latin quarter of Paris. 1967 expanded to Fontainebleau and Corbeiller-Evli, and 1976 developed again in Sofia-Antipolis near Nice.
As a general engineer college ("University"), the mission of the college is to train engineers, conduct scientific research and manage some public service activities (library and mineral specimen collection).
