Difference between School of Physics and School of Physical Astronomy of Sun Yat-sen University
On September 6th, 20 15, Sun Yat-sen University decided to establish the School of Physics and Astronomy of Sun Yat-sen University based on the Institute of Astronomy and Space.

Sun Yat-sen University established the first astronomy department in China in 1927, and established the Zhong Da Observatory in Yuexiu Mountain in 1929. For the first time, the longitude and latitude of Guangzhou were decided, and astronomy teaching in aviation schools was also decided. All astronomy teachers and students in CUHK participated. 1952 adjusted the teaching staff, and all the teachers and students of the astronomy department of Sun Yat-sen University and all the staff of the observatory and instruments and equipment were transferred to Nanjing University.
