Reflections on reading Eton College
Eton College, located in Windsor Town, 20 miles from London, is famous for its "cradle of elites" and "gentrification". It has produced 20 British prime ministers, trained poet Shelley and economist Keynes, and is also the alma mater of Prince William and Prince Harry in Britain. It is the most famous aristocratic middle school in Britain.

Eton College's education is very successful, which is inseparable from the characteristics of "responsibility, personality and sense of mission". All these are good inspirations for quality education in China.

First, cultivate a sense of responsibility.

Responsibility is the string of a person's life. Only when a person has a sense of responsibility can he connect his life with others' lives and have a sense of self-worth. A person who has no sense of responsibility and value, because he can't find the position and importance of his life in society, will feel confused, lose the motivation to create, and be easily attracted by other material frivolous foods, indulge in them and lead a mediocre life.

The one-child phenomenon in China has created a large number of self-centered children, and these children will also have many adverse effects when they go to society. Whether it is the second generation of officials, Li Tianyi of the second generation of officials, or the racing party in Kunming city, it is a reflection of social selfishness and irresponsibility.

As parents, we should always persuade our children to help their loved ones around us, and let them find responsibility and value and establish a sense of responsibility by helping other people's little things. Advice to children is not through condescending instruction, but through respecting children's independent personality, communicating on an equal footing, and speaking from heart to heart. Both boys and girls should guide themselves to do their own thing. If the child does not do his own thing well, parents can't help but accept it, instead of asking the child to do it again or continue to do it. The child doesn't know how to be responsible. No matter how well children do things, as long as they try their best, parents should praise and encourage them, accompany their children to solve problems that they have not done well, and let them form responsible habits. Parents must be careful not to help their children when they encounter problems.

China's parents have a general consciousness of "study hard and don't have to work", which is absolutely wrong. Parents need to involve their children in the decision-making of family affairs and undertake some housework. Children are the will of the family. They should be responsible for other family members and share the burden of the family as much as possible. A child who has no sense of responsibility and value may spend far more time than doing housework in boring gossip, moaning songs and time-wasting soap operas, which is not conducive to learning.

Second, happy teaching.

Education should conform to the natural order of students' psychological development, from simple to complex, from inaccurate to accurate, from concrete to abstract. We should advocate happiness and interest education and oppose educational methods that ignore the laws of students' physical and mental development. Painful work makes people feel boring, and pleasant work makes people feel that knowledge is attractive. The spoon-feeding teaching, while putting on glasses for students prematurely, also gradually kills children's interest in learning. It is immoral to ignore the education of children's happiness. A family should give children the power to be happy. No matter what unhappy things happen to children, they should be happy as long as they get home. Family harmony is the main factor to cultivate children's happy personality. This is also an important reason why most children from divorced families are hard to be happy all their lives.

Parents had better not compare their children with others, but this is exactly what our parents like to do. In real life, many parents often hurt their children's self-esteem without paying attention, and children want to attract others' attention. Children are willing to be praised by their parents, but also willing to endure their parents' criticism. The last thing they want is to be ignored by their parents.

Third, etiquette cultivation and moral education

The cultivation of etiquette can beautify life, let children master the basic code of conduct, and make them become modern intellectuals worthy of the name and with high moral quality. Parents' role models should not be ignored. There used to be many children playing slides in our community. A girl occupied the entrance of the slide and refused to get off. The father of another boy solved the problem in a rude way, that is, holding his own child and forcibly pushing it behind the girl. The boy kicked the girl's back from time to time, and finally the girl ran away crying, while the boy successfully played the slide. Although the girl is at fault, her parents' rude behavior is worse than that of a child. This example has an immeasurable negative impact on etiquette cultivation.

There are two manifestations of impoliteness, one is shyness and the other is arrogance. Eton College believes that in order to avoid these two situations, we must abide by this principle: don't underestimate ourselves and others.

Family education in China values wisdom over morality, which will inevitably affect the healthy growth of children. Eton College believes that knowledge can only help children improve their understanding. If they want to be truly virtuous people, they must carry out emotional training, will training and behavior training, otherwise they will be out of touch, saying one thing and doing another.

To cultivate good virtues, we must first let children speak absolutely true words. Secondly, diligence is a good habit that children must develop from an early age, and self-control is also an important virtue. Of course, courage and perseverance are essential virtues. Finally, self-esteem is the foundation of a person's character. If you lose self-esteem, a person's moral quality will collapse.

Fourth, pursue happiness.

At Eton College, there is a skill called happiness. This skill is not only to let children comment on happiness from all angles, but also to cultivate students' happiness.

True happiness is not when you give a toy or buy the latest cartoons for your children. Happiness is simple, but it has profound connotation. It can cultivate children's spirit and the feeling of integration with the world, which will be a lifetime wealth.

Happy children all have the same basic characteristics, including self-confidence, optimism and feeling in control of the world. Once a good method is mastered, this feature of children can be easily found. Every parent wants their children to be happy all their lives, so in the process of educating their children, they should be taught to experience happiness and understand happiness. Parents should communicate with their children more and let them take time to relax. Help children find happiness and feel happiness in the dribs and drabs of experiencing life; Help children form a positive attitude towards life in the process of overcoming difficulties and solving problems with children; In the process of enjoying life with children, help children form a happy state of mind that looks red and persistent.

Experiencing every happiness in life is the complete education we want to give our children.
