Nanjing University is a key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education, located in Jinling, the ancient capital of Zhong Ling, with a long history and outstanding reputation. Its predecessor was Sanjiang Normal School, which was founded in 1902. Since then, it has been renamed Nanjing University on 1950 after historical periods such as Liangjiang Normal University, Nanjing Normal University, National Southeast University, Fourth Sun Yat-sen University, National Central University and National Nanjing University.
1952, in the adjustment of colleges and universities in China, Nanjing University adjusted some departments such as engineering, agronomy and normal education, and later merged with the College of Arts and Sciences of Jinling University founded by 1888, and was still named Nanjing University. At present, Nanjing University has three campuses, namely Drum Tower, Pukou and Xianlin, with beautiful scenery, grand building scale and advanced teaching and research facilities. The predecessor of Nanjing University Law School is the former Central University Law School. The former Central University had seven campuses: Faculty of Arts, Law School, Teachers' College, Science College, Engineering College, Agricultural College and Medical College, among which the Law School consisted of Political Department, Economics Department and Law Department.
During the period of 1952, the departments of universities were adjusted nationwide, and Nanjing University became a university dominated by arts and sciences, and law schools were merged into other institutions. Since then, the law department and law education of Nanjing University have been interrupted.
