Hohai University: a comprehensive national key university.
Hohai University, abbreviated as "HHU", was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Water Resources, the State Oceanic Administration and the People's Government of Jiangsu Province. It is a comprehensive national key university directly under the Ministry of Education with the characteristics of water conservancy and the advantages of engineering.
It is the first batch of universities in China with the right to award doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees. It is a national "double first-class" construction university, a national "2 1 1 project" key construction, a "985 engineering advantage discipline innovation platform" construction and a graduate school. It has been selected into the national "1 1 plan".

Hohai University's predecessor can be traced back to the "Hohai Engineering College" founded in Nanjing in 19 15. It is the first institution of higher learning in China to train water conservancy talents. 1924 merged with the Engineering Department of National Southeast University to form Hohai University of Technology, 1927 merged with National Fourth Sun Yat-sen University, and later renamed as National Central University and Nanjing University.
From 65438 to 0952, the water conservancy departments of Nanjing University, Jiaotong University, Tongji University, Zhejiang University and East China Water Conservancy College merged to form East China Water Conservancy College. 1960 was recognized as a national key university by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. 1985, restore the traditional school name "Hohai University".
