Hebei North University, located in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, a famous city beyond the Great Wall, is a comprehensive provincial undergraduate college with the right to confer master's degrees in the northwest of Hebei Province. The school was formed in September 2003 by the merger of Zhangjiakou Medical College, Zhangjiakou Normal College and Zhangjiakou Agricultural College.
The predecessor of Zhangjiakou Medical College was the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Bethune Health School, which was established in 1945. 1982 was upgraded to an undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education and named Zhangjiakou Medical College. Zhangjiakou Teachers College was established in 1956 and Zhangjiakou Agricultural College was established in 1923.
