The College of Literature of Shaanxi Normal University, formerly known as China Art Department of Shaanxi Normal University, was established in 1944. 1949 Xi After liberation, the provincial teachers' college was merged into Northwest University, and Northwest University Teachers' College was established, and the Chinese Department was changed to the Chinese Department. 1953, Teachers College moved to Changyanbao, and the Department of Chinese Language and Literature was renamed China Language and Literature Department (Chinese Department). In the development process of more than 60 years, a large number of famous scholars at home and abroad have worked and taught here. Mr. Bai, Mr. Ding Shuyuan, Mr. Kou, Mr. Ma, Mr. Wang served as the head of the Chinese Department (Dean of the College of Literature); Mr Ding Shuyuan, Mr Guo Qi, Mr Liu Zhensheng, Mr Wang Jingzhi, Mr Zhang Xiaoyou, Mr Han Haizhi, Mr Wen Pixian, etc. Served as secretary of the Party branch of Chinese Department; Diao Rujun, Feng, Ding Shuyuan,, Huo, Su Chengquan, Zhang Dengdi, Pei Rang, Pu, Guo Qinna, Yang Shufang, Yu Pujiang, Zeng Zhihua, Zhang Xuezhong, You Xilin, Daoli Liang, Li Jikai, Sun Binghong, Dang Huaixing, Huo Youming, Bai Yulin and others served as deputy department heads (vice presidents of the School of Literature). The painstaking efforts of several generations have been poured into the towering tree of the College of Literature.

Today, the College of Literature of Shaanxi Normal University has formed distinctive features and advantages in the research fields of Tang Dynasty literature, philology, phonology, dialectology, exegetics, literary aesthetics, religion and literature, literary criticism, humanities, modern and contemporary literature in China, and classical philology in China. It has great influence in the whole country and has become an important teaching, scientific research and talent training center in the western region.
