Southwest University is a key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education and a national key construction school of "2 1 1 Project". In July 2005, it was formed by the merger of the former Southwest Normal University and the former Southwest Agricultural University. It turned out that the two schools were built adjacent to each other and of the same origin. It originated in the thirty-second year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1906), which opened a new school in China in the southwest. After several developments, it has become today's Southwest University.
