Institutional setup and functions:

1, responsible for the enrollment of postgraduate students, doctoral students, students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and on-the-job personnel to study for degrees, including making postgraduate enrollment plans, enrollment consultation and publicity, receiving and recommending exemption postgraduate students, organizing registration, proposition, examination and re-examination admission;

2. Responsible for graduate employment, including collecting and publishing demand information, organizing employment guidance, employment consultation, supply and demand meeting and two-way selection activities, preparing graduate employment plans, and handling graduate dispatch procedures;

3. Responsible for postgraduate archives work, including receiving, sorting, consulting and mailing archives;

4. Responsible for ideological and political education and party building work for graduate students;

5. Responsible for the daily behavior and affairs management of graduate students, including the management of scholarships, three assistances, difficult subsidies and medical insurance, the selection of outstanding graduate students and graduate education management cadres, the investigation and handling of disciplinary incidents, the social practice of graduate students and the organization of academic, scientific and cultural activities, etc.

Postgraduate education in Wuhan University originated from 1935 and has a history of more than 80 years. 1955, Wuhan University enrolled the first batch of graduate students after the founding of New China. 1978, interrupted by the "Cultural Revolution" 10 years of postgraduate education resumed; 198 1 became the first batch of doctoral and master's degree awarding units approved by the State Council; 1984 became one of the earliest universities in China to set up graduate schools.
