Tianjin Normal University is the inheritor of Tianjin's century-old normal education, the birthplace of Tianjin's basic education context, and the only normal university in Tianjin that trains high-quality teachers for basic education. The school was founded in 1958, formerly known as Tianjin Normal University, and 1982 was renamed Tianjin Normal University. 65438-0999, the former Tianjin Normal University, Tianjin Normal College and Tianjin Institute of Education merged to form a new Tianjin Normal University. The school won the national civilized campus in 2020.

There are 382 international students. The campus covers an area of 3,500 mu, including 77 1 mu of natural lakes and wetlands, with a construction area of 850,800 square meters. The newly-built and renovated Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Education Collaborative Training Base is 95,800 square meters, which was completed and delivered in March 2023. There are nearly 4 million books in the school library, including 6.5438+0.5 million ancient books, 6.5438+0.3 million rare ancient books and 6.5438+0.2 million books.

Among them, 26 majors were approved as national first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites of "Double Hundred Thousand Plan", and 14 majors were approved as provincial first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites of "Double Hundred Thousand Plan". The number, scale and total scale of national first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites rank first among municipal universities.
