A copy. Kashgar University is a university located in Kashgar, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. It is an engineering university for basic capacity building in the central and western regions, and one of the national 100 pilot universities for transformation and development. Kashgar University, formerly known as Kashgar Teachers College, was founded in 1962. During the period from its establishment to 1978, the school was the only normal college among the five institutions of higher learning in the autonomous region (Xinjiang University, Xinjiang Institute of Technology, Bayi Agricultural College, Xinjiang Medical College and Xinjiang Kashgar Teachers College), which played an irreplaceable role in basic education, social stability and economic development in Xinjiang, especially in southern Xinjiang.
