There are two main types of undergraduate colleges: key undergraduate colleges (985, 2 1 1 colleges) and ordinary undergraduate colleges (123 colleges). Ordinary undergraduates = ordinary first-year students = ordinary second-year students = ordinary third-year students = equivalent academic ability.

Undergraduate = one (heavy and ordinary) student = two ordinary students = three ordinary students = the same undergraduate education (but with different emphasis).
