Hunan University, referred to as "Huda", is located in Changsha City, Hunan Province. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). Colleges and universities established by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Hunan Provincial People's Government and the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense rank among the national "double first-class", "985 Project" and "2 1658".

The education and training plan for outstanding engineers, the education and training plan for outstanding legal talents, the national postgraduate plan for building a high-level university, and the national new engineering research and practice project are national demonstration universities for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, universities' scientific and technological achievements transformation and technology transfer bases, national intellectual property demonstration universities, national university students' cultural quality education bases, and scholarships for overseas students of China government. They are members of the BRICS University Alliance and the Yangtze-Volga University Alliance.

Discipline construction:

There are 27 colleges under the school, covering philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, medicine, art and so on. 1 1, forming a discipline layout with solid science foundation, strong engineering strength, unique humanities and social disciplines, rising life medicine disciplines and active emerging interdisciplinary disciplines.

There are 74 undergraduate majors, 35 first-level disciplines authorized by master's degree, 30 first-level disciplines authorized by doctor's degree and 28 post-doctoral research stations. Two disciplines has two first-class national key disciplines and 14 national key disciplines. Seven disciplines were selected as national defense characteristic disciplines, and the disciplines of chemistry, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering entered the ranks of "world-class disciplines".
