The Department of Computer Science and Technology of East China Normal University was founded in 1979, which is the earliest computer department in China. As one of the excellent computer science research and education institutions in China, the Department of Computer Science has the right to award doctoral degrees in computer science and technology, mainly enrolling master's and doctoral students in computer software and theory and computer application technology, and has a postdoctoral mobile station in computer science and technology. The undergraduate major is computer science and technology, with a four-year academic system. At the same time, our department has also undertaken a large number of scientific research projects entrusted by domestic and foreign enterprises and management departments. Scientific research has made continuous progress, and won many national natural science awards, provincial and ministerial outstanding achievement awards, and Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award. Over the past three years, more than 100 high-quality academic papers have been published.

Academic exchanges and cooperation between our department and domestic and foreign countries are quite active, and we have established good relations of exchanges and cooperation with famous foreign universities and scientific research institutions such as the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Switzerland, Australia and Singapore. In recent years, in order to better integrate into the main battlefield of economic construction, the Institute of Computer Application has been established jointly with Academia Sinica of Radio and Television Group and Shanghai Integrated Circuit R&D Center. The department is rich in educational resources and currently has a number of advanced instruments and equipment. The experimental center is the Shanghai computer experimental teaching demonstration center. There are more than 300 high-performance microcomputers in the computer room, and there are also professional laboratories such as digital logic design, computer composition, embedded system, single chip microcomputer system design, DSP system design, computer network engineering, computer network protocol, network security, high-performance computing, and open laboratories such as hardware system development and design, and student innovation laboratory. In addition to meeting the normal experimental teaching, the laboratory implements open management, which provides a good experimental environment for students. In particular, the student innovation laboratory adopts the mode of self-management and is open all day, which provides excellent conditions for students to carry out scientific and technological innovation. In recent years, students have made outstanding achievements in various scientific research competitions, and won the first prize of the 11th National Challenge Cup and the third prize of the 10th National Challenge Cup. Since its establishment, our department has trained more than 2,600 undergraduates, including junior college students 1 100, and more than 700 doctoral and master students.
