Sha Yong is currently a member of the Central Committee of the Agricultural Workers' Party, director of the Central Committee of Population Resources of the Agricultural Workers' Party, vice chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Agricultural Workers' Party, member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Political Consultative Conference, deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of Population Resources and Environment of the Jiangsu Provincial Political Consultative Conference, and deputy director of the 13th Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Agricultural Workers' Party.
He used to be vice president and dean of the Institute of Population Studies of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and dean of the School of Social and Population Studies. Sha Yong, a postdoctoral fellow in Tsinghua University, is a second-class trainer in Jiangsu Province. Won the first prize of outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences in Jiangsu Province, outstanding theoretical achievement award in Jiangsu Province and May 1st Labor Medal in Jiangsu Province.

Sha Yong has a high academic reputation in the fields of demography, population, resources and environmental economics, and his research results have been widely recognized and applied. Participated in the formulation and planning of national and local population policies for many times, and provided important decision support and consulting services for the government and enterprises.
