The Art College of Yanbian University, founded in 1957, is the only institution of higher learning in China that trains Korean specialized artistic talents. The college now has six teaching institutions, including music department, dance department, fine arts department, drama department, cultural foundation department and physical education teaching and research department. Musicology, music performance, composition theory, fine arts, painting, art design (covering photography, environmental art, decoration, sculpture, clothing and other five directions), dance, performance and other eight majors, 18 professional direction. In addition, there are national art research institute, Korean art data center, art design research center, national instrumental music research and production center, Lin Jingsheng Music Research Institute and other scientific research institutions. Musicology, fine arts and dance in the above disciplines have the right to grant master's degrees. At present, the college has formed the characteristics and advantages of "comprehensiveness, application, openness and one-stop", and has become a national art college with a certain influence at home and abroad.

The college has a strong faculty, with a group of influential experts and scholars in academic circles and a large number of outstanding young and middle-aged teachers. There are 269 faculty members, including full-time teachers 175. Among them, there are 8 professors, 50 associate professors, master tutor 10, young and middle-aged academic backbone of Yanbian University 1 person, academic leader 1 person, 3 academic leaders and 2 young and middle-aged academic backbone. In addition, the college often invites famous experts and scholars at home and abroad to give lectures.

Since its establishment, the college has trained more than 4,000 senior specialized artistic talents for the country. Among them, many graduates have worked and taught in China University for Nationalities, Ministry of National Defense, china national radio, Central Orchestra, Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing Dance Academy and other national famous literary and art groups and art colleges, and some have become high-level artistic talents with high reputation at home and abroad.
