2. The origin of running Huazhong Agricultural University can be traced back to 1898. Hubei Agricultural School, founded by Zhang Zhidong, Governor of Huguang, was one of the starting points of higher agricultural education in China. Through inheritance and evolution, Huazhong Agricultural College was established in 1952 and in 1985 by the Agricultural College of Wuhan University, all departments of Hubei Agricultural College and some departments of six comprehensive universities such as Sun Yat-sen University.
