Is it suitable for children over three years old to enroll in interest classes?
It should be decided according to children's hobbies, and must not be encouraged! Don't let children lose at the starting line-this slogan, which has been abused by advertisers, still has an unshakable position in the hearts of parents. Almost every child has received preschool education, and some even began to learn to write, recite poems and draw when they were only two or three years old. Yang Jian, director of the Children's Development Research Center of Wuhan University, disagrees with this view. He pointed out that children receive and learn different things at different stages of their growth. Generally, children should be allowed to develop naturally before the age of 4, especially before the age of 3. Yang Jian said that 0-3 years old is the development period of children's basic quality. According to the report of UNESCO, children in this period can only learn four things. That is to say, learn to have a basic understanding of things around you, learn to do selfish and capable things, learn to get along with people and deal with simple interpersonal relationships, learn to know yourself and feel safe. For example, wash handkerchiefs, learn to read some simple three-character nursery rhymes, cooperate with children, learn to make friends, write some strokes at will, and doodle some graphics with letters. The reason why there is such a suggestion, Yang Jian said, is still related to the child's physical development. Because the child's hand muscles are underdeveloped and his ability to control the pen is limited, he can't write stably with the correct stroke order and posture at all. He can only doodle with a pen, and it is almost impossible to force him to write accurately. Moreover, children's understanding and memory are very limited in this period. If the children's songs, poems or essays read by parents are too uncommon, even if they are memorized, they will not play the role of early education at all. When talking about this issue, Cheng Huai, director of China Family Education Association and director of Happy Spring Children Development Research Center, also said that under normal circumstances, parents don't need and shouldn't cram poems or learn some technical paintings for their children before they are four years old, and don't force them to learn things that they are not interested in. Cheng Huai believes that parents should understand their children's personality, observe their hobbies, and then choose appropriate and personalized education. For some gifted, quick-thinking children who are particularly interested in something, they can be educated in this area six months to one year before entering school. Excessive advanced education, when children can't accept it, is easy to produce anxiety and depression, but may leave some psychological obstacles for future growth.
