The Ministry of Education stipulates that the number of graduate students in a school should not exceed 5%. However, with the change of the graduate school system, the Ministry of Education proposes to set up graduate schools, with the number of graduate students accounting for 15% of the fresh graduates, 5% of the unincorporated 2 1 1 universities and 2% of other universities.
However, due to the differences in academic strength and employment rate, the scientific research guarantee rate of each university is different and is constantly improving. The scientific research guarantee rate of some excellent universities has reached about 50%. For example, in 2023, the overall scientific research support rate of China University of Science and Technology reached 48.73%, and the scientific research support rate of 2 1 1 or second-class universities was generally between 5% and 40%.
At present, judging from the colleges and universities that have announced the number of places for research in 2024, the number of places for research in colleges and universities has indeed increased in 2024. For example, the Central University of Finance and Economics in 2024 has 522 research places, an increase of more than 50 people compared with last year, and the research rate has increased by about 20% compared with 13% in 2020.
For many students who are preparing for the postgraduate entrance examination, the increase in the number of "postgraduate entrance examinations" in colleges and universities is not good news, because the increase in the number of postgraduate entrance examinations means that the number of postgraduate entrance examinations in some schools may decrease, and the postgraduate entrance examination in 2024 will be more difficult, so that many students call for the abolition of the postgraduate entrance examination system.
However, it is impossible to cancel the postgraduate entrance examination system, and in fact, the increase in the number of "postgraduate entrance examinations" does not necessarily increase the difficulty of recruiting students for postgraduate entrance examination.
Because the number of postgraduate students has increased, the number of postgraduate students will also increase. The Ministry of Education has clearly stipulated that the number of graduate candidates in a school should not exceed 50% of the total number of graduate students enrolled. No matter which subject, a certain enrollment plan will be set aside in the same school to enroll students for the unified examination.
However, it is worth mentioning that the allocation of postgraduate places in different colleges and majors in the same school is not limited by 50%. The better the strength, the higher the graduate rate, and the graduate rate of some universities has exceeded 70%.
