The College of Civil Engineering and Architecture has a college office, an educational administration office, a student work office, a college professional reference room and a computer center. According to the specialty, it is divided into two departments: the Department of Architectural Engineering and the Department of Engineering Management, and there are six professional teaching and research sections. The college has two laboratories, namely, building structure and earthquake resistance laboratory and building engineering laboratory. There are eight research institutions, including Chang 'an University Civil Engineering Research Institute, Chang 'an University Cold-formed Steel Structure Research Center, Engineering Theory and Application Research Institute, Chang 'an University Engineering Structure Diagnosis and Reconstruction Research Institute, Building Technology and Economics Research Institute, Underground Structure and Engineering Research Institute, Chang 'an University Case Anti-explosion Structure Safety and Protection Research Center and Advanced Civil Engineering Materials Research Institute.
The college now has three undergraduate majors: civil engineering, engineering management and engineering cost, with 2229 undergraduates. At present, there are four major directions (course groups) of civil engineering specialty, namely, construction engineering, project management, underground construction and traffic civil engineering. Civil engineering has always been the key specialty of the school. In 2003, it was rated as a famous specialty by Shaanxi Provincial Education Commission, and in 2008, it was approved as the third batch of "National Characteristic Specialty Construction Sites". The main courses "Basic Theory of Concrete Structure", "Structural Mechanics" and "Steel Structure" were rated as excellent courses in Shaanxi Province.
Since 1980s, the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture has been training graduate students majoring in structural engineering, and has set up the Post-Doctoral Research Center of Civil Engineering. The right to award doctoral and master's degrees in the first-class discipline of civil engineering, and the right to award master's degrees in technical economy and management; There are nearly 200 doctoral and master students in school. At the same time, the college also recruits on-the-job staff to study for master's degrees in engineering such as architectural and civil engineering and environmental engineering, and the scale of master's degree students has reached 100.
In recent five years, with the discipline construction and development in recent years, the college has formed a stable research direction and discipline characteristics, such as steel structure foundation theory and its application, steel-concrete composite structure, engineering structure seismic theory and its application, structural strength theory and its application. The faculty and staff of the institute have successively presided over and participated in more than 40 national, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects 10, and scientific research achievement awards 15 at all levels, including the second prize of national scientific and technological progress, the first prize of scientific and technological progress in Shaanxi Province, and the second prize of scientific and technological progress in colleges and universities in Shaanxi Province. More than 80 monographs and textbooks have been published, and more than 950 academic papers have been published, including more than 350 articles on SCI, EI and retrieval.
Over the years, the college has trained nearly 8,000 graduates at all levels, many of whom have taken up leadership positions at all levels, and some have become influential experts and scholars at home and abroad. College is a member of the National Civil Engineering Professional Steering Committee. As a first-class training qualification unit of the Ministry of Construction, the College is a key training base for construction system supervision engineers, cost engineers and valuation engineers, and has undertaken a large number of construction post training in Shaanxi Province and even the northwest region.
