Zhejiang University, referred to as "Zhejiang University", is located in Hangzhou, a paradise on earth. Qiushi Academy, formerly known as 1897, is one of the earliest modern institutions of higher learning founded by China people themselves. 1928 was renamed as National Zhejiang University. During the Republic of China, under the leadership of Zhu Kezhen, Zhejiang University rose to be one of the highest universities in the Republic of China, and was praised as "Oriental Cambridge" by British scholar Needham, which ushered in the most glorious period in the century-old development history of Zhejiang University.
