North China Electric Power University, referred to as NCEPU for short, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is jointly established by the board of directors of State Grid Corporation, China Electric Power Enterprise Federation and other 12 super-large power groups and the Ministry of Education.
National "Double First-class" and "2 1 1 Engineering" universities were selected as "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform", members of Shanghai Cooperation Organization's Chinese-led Energy Science University, Global Energy Internet University Alliance, Beijing Normal University Alliance and CDIO Engineering Education Alliance, and sponsors of China Electric Power University Alliance and School-enterprise Alliance for Training Outstanding Engineers in the electric power industry.
It has been selected into the national "11/plan", the excellent engineer education and training plan of the Ministry of Education, the national graduate program of building a high-level university, the national new engineering research and practice project, the scholarship receiving institution of China government for overseas students in China, and the national demonstration base for training innovative talents. The school 1958 was founded in Beijing, formerly known as Beijing Electric Power Institute, and has long been managed by the national electric power department.
1969 school moved to Handan, Hebei province, 1970 moved to Baoding, renamed Hebei Electric Power Institute. 1978 was approved by the State Council as a national key university, and was renamed as North China Electric Power Institute in the same year. 1995, North China Electric Power University and Beijing Institute of Electric Power Economics merged to form North China Electric Power University. In March 2003, the school was placed under the management of the Ministry of Education by the former State Power Company and officially became a university directly under the Ministry of Education.
From June 5438 to October 2005 10, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school headquarters was moved from Baoding to Beijing, and the Baoding campus of North China Electric Power University was established separately, and the two places were managed in an integrated manner. According to the information of official website in May 2023, the school covers an area of 1.600 mu and the building area is 1 10,000 square meters. There are 15 colleges (departments) and 67 undergraduate majors; There are more than 3,000 faculty members, 24,000 full-time undergraduates and 0/0.2 million graduate students.
