Founded in 2002, the biotechnology major of Wenzhou University is a key construction major in the Twelfth Five-Year Plan of Wenzhou University. This major conforms to the national strategy of "Healthy China", is based on the frontier of life sciences, closely focuses on the development of talents in the bio-health industry, and aims at cultivating an international vision, mastering the core basic theoretical knowledge of biotechnology and high-level professional operation skills, so that it can reach a higher level in future life science research, biotechnology transformation, biosafety detection, biotechnology education and food safety management.

(1) Innovative talent training mode
According to the standard requirements of national first-class undergraduate education, through years of talent training practice, the major has gradually formed a talent innovation training mode of "three integrations, four stages and five guidance" for biotechnology specialty, namely "three integrations of learning and teaching, learning and scientific research, learning and innovation and entrepreneurship" and four stages of "literacy → theory → skills → post" based on the basic laws of talent training. This major has several platforms, such as national and local joint engineering research center for ecological control of urban water pollution (national level), Zhejiang Key Laboratory of Water Environment and Marine Biological Resources Protection, Zhejiang Key Biological Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, Wenzhou University Virus Institute, Wenzhou University Life Science Institute, etc. It has the most advanced experimental instruments and equipment in the field of biotechnology in China to meet the needs of various biotechnology theory and practice teaching. The college has set up a key discipline of ecology in Zhejiang province, with three master's programs in biology, chemical biology and biology teaching, which has built a good platform for biotechnology students to participate in scientific research, further studies and start businesses in the future. (1) Continuing education: The enrollment rate and admission rate of biotechnology major have been in the forefront of the school for many years.
