Jiangsu Normal University is a high-level university approved by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of Education. The school was founded in Wuxi, Jiangsu, 1952, with Lieutenant General Liu Xiansheng as its first principal.
Since the establishment of the school, the teachers and students of the whole school have been adhering to the school motto of "respecting morality and being eager to learn, and inspiring success". Through unremitting efforts, various undertakings have developed rapidly. In 2020, the school ranked among the top 50 mainland universities in The Times Higher Education. In China (Mainland) University Ranking 102, in U.S.News World University Ranking "China University Evaluation" Ranking 1 16, its comprehensive strength and international influence are increasing day by day.
Historical evolution:
1956 was officially included in the enrollment of general higher education.
Jiangsu Normal University was founded in 1957.
1958 The school moved to Xuzhou, and 1959 merged with Xuzhou Normal University to form Xuzhou Normal University.
In the early 1960s, when the layout of colleges and universities in China was adjusted, Premier Zhou Enlai instructed: "Xuzhou has a vast territory and needs universities", so the schools were retained. Since then, the school has taken root in northern Jiangsu, worked hard and gradually developed.
1979 enrolled graduate students, and 198 1 became the first batch of master's degree awarding units in China.
1984 the people's government of Jiangsu province established Xuzhou Teachers College on the basis of the former Xuzhou Teachers College, and 1989 merged into our school.
1996 The school was renamed Xuzhou Normal University.
1999 Xuzhou industrial school, which was owned by the former Ministry of Coal, merged.
