Nanjing University Library is the first batch of national key protection units of ancient books with a long history, and its development can be traced back to the Central University Library and Jinling University Library established in the early 20th century. In the history of Nanjing University Library, famous librarians such as Li, Shi Tingyong and Master of Chinese Studies have presided over the library work. Nanjing University Library is an early university library engaged in computer application in China. 1986, the bar code computer Chinese book circulation management system was first developed and put into use in China. The Chinese purchasing cataloging management system developed by 1992 has been put into practical use and has been widely praised by peers. At the end of 1998, the library management system of Nanjing University was completely updated, and the branches of various departments were extending their services, gradually realizing the "one card" for the book circulation of Nanjing University (including Pukou branch). The reference rooms of chemistry and chemical engineering college, architectural research institute, international business school and physics department are all managed by the library computer system.
