Huazhong Agricultural University, referred to as Huanong for short, is located at the foot of Lion Mountain in Nanhu, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. The origin of running Huazhong Agricultural University dates back to 1898, when Zhang Zhidong, Governor of Huguang, founded Hubei Agricultural School at the invitation of Qing government, which was one of the starting points of higher agricultural education in China. After inheritance and evolution, Huazhong Agricultural College was established in 1952 by all departments of Wuhan University Agricultural College, Hubei Agricultural College and some departments of six comprehensive universities such as Sun Yat-sen University, and was renamed Huazhong Agricultural College in 1985. In 2000, it was placed under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education from the Ministry of Agriculture. ?
