1February, 949, the Northeast Administrative Committee named the school "Yanji University" in its reply. The Preparatory Committee submitted a report to the Northeast Administrative Committee, suggesting that Yanji University be renamed Yanbian University.

Enrollment began in March. Yanbian Medical College merged into Yanji University. On March 20th, the opening ceremony was held in Stalin Theatre. April 1 day is designated as the celebration day.
