Linyi University is a comprehensive university with distinctive characteristics of coordinated development of science, engineering, literature, economics, management, medicine, law, literature and teaching. The school is one of the first batch of famous universities with characteristics in Shandong Province and one of the first batch of applied undergraduate universities in Shandong Province that support the "integration of production and education" project of the National Development and Reform Commission, and has been rated as "excellent school for undergraduate teaching level evaluation" by the Ministry of Education.

The school is the only comprehensive university in the old revolutionary area of Yimeng, covering an area of about 6,000 mu, with sub-campuses in Yishui and Feixian.
