Shanghai Ocean University is an agricultural and forestry institution founded by Shanghai Municipal People's Government, State Oceanic Administration and Ministry of Agriculture. Jiangsu Fisheries School, formerly founded by 19 12, was renamed Shanghai Fisheries College by 1952, Shanghai Fisheries University by 1985, and Shanghai Ocean University in 2008.
As of May 20 17, Shanghai Ocean University has three campuses, namely, Hucheng Ring Road Campus in Pudong New Area, Simon Road Campus in Yangpu District and Minxing Road Campus in Yangpu District. The main campus, Hucheng Ring Road Campus, covers an area of about 1600 mu, with a planned construction area of 586,000 square meters.
The school has 15 colleges (departments), 2 post-doctoral research stations, 3 first-class doctoral programs, 10 first-class master programs, 4 professional master programs and 47 undergraduate majors and directions.
There are 1 national key disciplines, 3 disciplines of peak and plateau in Shanghai universities, 3 first-class disciplines in Shanghai universities, 9 provincial and ministerial-level key disciplines and 5 specialties with national characteristics. There are more than 2000 full-time undergraduates/KLOC-0, more than 2300 full-time postgraduates and 202 international students.
