Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine was founded in 1924 on the basis of Guangdong College of Chinese Medicine. Guangzhou College of Traditional Chinese Medicine was established on 1956 with the approval of the State Council, and it is one of the first four universities of traditional Chinese medicine in New China. It was renamed Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine on 1995. Formerly directly under the Ministry of Health, it was placed under the management of Guangdong Provincial People's Government in 2000.
20 17 was selected as the national "double first-class" discipline construction university. 20 18 was promoted to be a key construction university of high-level universities in Guangdong province. In 2020, it will become the construction unit of Guangdong Provincial People's Government, Ministry of Education and state administration of traditional chinese medicine.
There are two campuses, Sanyuanli and University Town, covering an area of 1.355 mu and a construction area of more than 780,000 square meters. Full-time teachers 1.608, including 503 full-time teachers and 5 deputy senior teachers1.3. There are a number of famous experts and professors represented by Guo Guowei and Zhou Daihan, masters of traditional Chinese medicine. The scientific research work of the school has obvious characteristics and outstanding advantages:
"Clinical and experimental research on myasthenia gravis with spleen deficiency" won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award1992; "A series of research on syndrome differentiation and treatment of spleen deficiency" won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2000, and its landmark achievement "Research on the Inheritance and Innovation of Spleen Deficiency Theory and Its Application" was selected in the Collection of Inheritance and Innovation of Major Theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China in 20 16.
